achinThe injection molding machine will need hydraulic oil and lubrication oil or grease. We’ll be able to introduce some information about hydraulic oil.
There are some questions that clients will be interested in them, listed as follows:
- How to choose hydraulic oil for the injection molding machine?
- How to replace the hydraulic oil of the injection molding machine?
- When does the hydraulic oil of the injection molding machine change?

How to choose hydraulic oil for the injection molding machine?
- Viscosity-temperature property
- Anti-wear property
- Shear stability
When choosing hydraulic oil for injection molding machines, there are several criteria to consider:
Viscosity-temperature property:
The viscosity-temperature property of hydraulic oil refers to the change in its viscosity at different temperatures. The viscosity requirements of the hydraulic oil at the working temperature and starting temperature of the injection moulding machine are related to the smoothness and efficiency of the hydraulic action of the injection molding machine. Therefore, it is very important to choose a hydraulic oil with suitable viscosity-temperature properties.
Anti-wear property:
In a high-pressure working environment, the anti-wear property of hydraulic oil is particularly important. Anti-wear hydraulic oil can reduce the damage of friction to injection molding machines, improve working efficiency, and have the function of rust prevention and oxidation resistance. It is generally recommended to use No. 46 or No. 68 anti-wear hydraulic oil.
Shear stability:
Hydraulic oil is prone to shear stability problems under high pressure and high-temperature conditions, which will affect its performance and life. Therefore, it is also necessary to choose hydraulic oil with good shear stability.
In addition, it is also necessary to choose the appropriate hydraulic oil according to the specific model and working conditions of the machine. For example, ISO46# viscosity oil is recommended for vertical injection molding machines, and ISO68# viscosity oil is recommended for medium and small horizontal injection molding machines. When the temperature in northern regions is low, low-temperature hydraulic oil can be considered.

How to replace the hydraulic oil of the injection molding machine?
There are seven steps for replying to the hydraulic oil of the injection molding machine.
- Turn off the equipment
- Pump out the old oil
- Clean the hydraulic oil tank
- Check and replace seals
- Flush the hydraulic oil tank
- Add new hydraulic oil
- Inspection and testing
Turn off the equipment:
First, turn off the main power switch of the injection molding machine and hang a warning sign to ensure safety.
Pump out the old oil:
open the filling hole, remove the filling filter, insert the oil suction pipe of the pumping unit into the oil tank, open the pumping unit, and pump the hydraulic oil in the oil tank into the oil barrel in turn. Then tighten the oil barrel cover and move the oil barrel to the waste oil storage area.
Clean the hydraulic oil tank:
Remove the filter, illuminate the space inside with a flashlight, and wipe off all the oil inside with a clean towel or oil-absorbing cloth. For large robots, you can crawl in and clean it.
Check and replace seals:
Disassemble the oil pipes and hydraulic cylinders, replace vulnerable seals, and strictly clean the oil tank and oil filter.
Flush the hydraulic oil tank:
Flush the hydraulic oil tank with low-viscosity hydraulic oil, start the motor, and test run it at low speed.
Add new hydraulic oil:
After cleaning the hydraulic oil tank, add new hydraulic oil to the specified position.
Inspection and testing:
Make sure all connections are correct, start the equipment for a test run, and check for leaks or other problems.
When does the hydraulic oil of the injection molding machine change?
The replacement time of hydraulic oil from the injection moulding machine is generally 6 months after the first use, and then it is replaced once a year or three years, which needs to be adjusted according to the actual use and test results.
The replacement time of hydraulic oil from injection molding machines can be determined according to different situations and requirements. In general, the injection molding machine needs to replace the initial oil after 6 months of first use, and then decide when to replace it according to the use of the oil. For ordinary anti-wear hydraulic oil, replacing it once a year is recommended. If synthetic anti-wear hydraulic oil is used, it is recommended to replace it within three years.
In addition, there is evidence that the hydraulic oil should be replaced and the hydraulic system cleaned during the initial use of the new equipment (e.g., three months). However, this practice is not common, and in most cases, it is replaced according to the one – or three-year cycle described above.
Injection molding machine hydraulic oil temperature control
Temperature control of hydraulic oil in injection molding machines is critical to ensuring normal operation and extended service life of the equipment
The ideal operating temperature of the hydraulic system of the injection molding machine should be between 45°C and 50°C. This temperature range can ensure that the viscosity of the hydraulic oil is moderate, thus maintaining the best performance and response sensitivity of the system.
The maintenance of hydraulic oil for the injection molding machine
The maintenance of hydraulic oil for injection moulding machines is an important part of ensuring the normal operation of the machine and extending its service life. The following are detailed methods for the maintenance of hydraulic oil:
Replace hydraulic oil regularly
Check the hydraulic oil quality
Regular cleaning and inspection
Preventive Maintenance
Different injection molding machines may have different requirements, so ensuring that the selected oil can meet the working requirements of the machine is crucial.
Hydraulic seals for injection molding machines

Hydraulic seals are critical components in injection molding machines, as they ensure the proper functioning of hydraulic systems by preventing fluid leakage and maintaining pressure. These seals are used in various parts of the machine, including cylinders, pistons, and valves, where they endure high pressures, temperatures, and dynamic movements.
Key Functions of hydraulic seals for injection molding machines:
- Prevent Leakage: Seal hydraulic fluid within the system to maintain pressure and efficiency.
- Contaminate Exclusion: Keep dirt, debris, and other contaminants out of the hydraulic system.
- Reduce Friction: Ensure smooth operation of moving parts while minimizing wear and tear.
- Withstand High Pressure and Temperature: Handle the extreme conditions typical in injection molding processes.
